Austerity has at least had one positive element. There are no major public works being finished now. There are no inaugurations waiting to happen just before elections. An otherwise typical trick used by politicians: "See what I have done!"
And unsaid: "Look how stupid the people is. I spend their money. Have companies, where I soon will work, build. I make sure the construction is finished right before elections, or I let it stand empty until then. I inaugurate while they applaud. And they believe me! They re-elect me!"
Just for illustration - no foul play suggested...
