Good intentions sometimes have adverse effects

In Germany in a museum a cleaning lady cleaned this rubber tray:

There were some spots of paint inside, that she removed.

However, the rubber tray is part of a piece of art:

"Wenn's anfängt durch die Decke zu tropfen", by the famous German artist, Martin Kippenberger.

The name of the piece translated to English is:  "When it starts dripping through the ceiling".  The drops of paint in the metal tray represented the water drops.

The piece of art is supposedly destroyed beyond recovery, as the artist is dead.  The piece was lent to the museum by a private collector and was insured for nearly one million Euros.

I am sure some find it tragic, as the artist is popular.

Personally, I find it hilarious.   I understand the cleaning lady had a hard time understanding the art.  Conscientiously she cleaned the dirty tray.  It is nearly right out of a Mr. Bean film.

Perhaps the situation can be saved by renaming the work of art to: "When it starts dripping through the ceiling cleaned by cleaning lady".

Is there any relevance to the crisis in Portugal?   None whatsoever.  On the other hand cleaning ladies usually, like most workers in Portugal, are conscientious, if somewhat badly educated. The above work of art, except for the metal tray, looks like a construction made by politicians such as the public sector.   And even a cleaning lady can see the need for a house cleaning.
