According to Diario de Noticias (hat tip), commerce and retail fell 3,7% last month in Portugal compared to last September. A record in Europe. Last year commerce and retail diminished 6,2% all in all compared to the year before. Only Malta had it worse at over 7%.
The numbers are supposedly from Eurostat.
I must now ask myself. If our numbers are worse than the numbers from Greece, where 25% of all shops have closed since the start of the crisis. What are the prospects here? 50%? It looks bleak.
